CARBON SPORT ISSUES
Some Carbon Sports customers are reporting excessively long waiting times to cash out their winnings. As a results, we do not currently recommend Carbon Sports as a US racebook app.

CARBON USA RACE BETTING APP
Overview
Carbon Sports is actually a relatively new entity to a company that’s been around since 2005. The brand is probably most famous for its poker room which has been launched in its current form since 2007. One of the biggest draws into the company comes in the form of them welcoming US gamblers. In fact, the whole site is pretty much targeted around US based players with its European pull being relatively limited. |
Their latest foray has come in the form of mobile betting and they have designed a dedicated app for their user. What’s so great about the app is that there is no need for download as when you simply follow the link for Carbon Sports from a smartphone or tablet device, you will be taken directly to the mobile app. That being said, if you do want to flick back to the original desktop version, you can do.
We were delighted to see that Carbon has included a dedicated horse racing section just for the app. It’s actually not all that uncommon from US based bookmakers, as both Bovada and Bet Online provide these options, but it’s still a good feature to have.
Features
When you first enter the app you will be greeted with easily the best looking US based horse racing app we have come across. The design does have a minimalist feel to it, but it looks and more importantly functions really well. We found that even searching through the app on a 3G signal was a painless task, with loading being super-fast. It must be said that whilst some apps, like Carbon, have gone down the ‘no frills’ route, it really makes a huge difference when it comes to loading times.
To access the horse racing section there is a ‘Horses’ tab at the top which you need to click. Once in you will be greeted with a number of lists that include feature races, upcoming races, meetings and even a harness racing and greyhound section. Included with each market is the MTP (Minutes to Post) along with the number of the next race that’s coming up. At the bottom of the homepage are options that include ticket (how many selections you have on your bet slip), contact, switch to desktop and a log in button.
You can click on any of the races to then be taken into the race card for each race. The race card is actually pretty detailed for a US racing section and you can find information on there that includes jockey, trainer, form and the morning line price for the horse. From here you can select the Win, Place and Show markets before selecting your bet amount. A simple click on ‘add to bet cart’ when you have made your picks will add them to your slip. Please note, by adding them to cart does not mean your bet is placed, to do this you need to go to your cart, of which we will discuss later in the article.
A really nice feature on the betting slip is the amount of markets that Carbon covers. These can include straight, exacta, trifecta, superfecta, daily double and the pick 3. Also, if there are any markets that you aren’t familiar with, then you can simply click the ‘Bet Types Explained’ button for a low down of each market and what they mean.
At the bottom of the race card is a section showing you minimum and maximum bet for each market of the Win, Place and Show bets. These will general start from $2 and will range anywhere up to a maximum of $1,000, depending on the race. Sometimes the higher profile races will result in a larger limit being on offer.
Once you have made your bet and clicked the ‘add to cart’ button you will then be taken to your cart to continue with your selections. At this point you will need to log in, if you haven’t already done so. If you don’t have a Carbon account you can make one directly from the secure app.

Verdict
After spending a reasonable amount of time with Carbon Sports horse racing app, we can safely say that it’s easily one of the best in the market for US based customers. We realise that the comparison between US and European sports betting apps is incomparable to be honest, but they serve to provide very different markets.
The app allows you to peruse a simple, but effect style and one that will definitely not suck the resources of your phone. Loading time was particularly impressive as a result and this is an area we think is massively important.
There can be improvements made to the app, no doubt. The navigation and aesthetics weren’t the best and it got a little fiddly sometimes when placing wagers. These will likely be minor niggles for most though and areas in which we think Carbon will likely iron out sooner rather than later.
