LADBROKES RACING APP REVIEW
Overview
Ladbrokes are one of the biggest betting companies in the world. In fact, they also claim to be one of the oldest. The company has seen many changes over the years, but one thing they have never shied away from is their ability to keep changing with the times and ultimately bring new and exciting products to the market. Whilst Ladbrokes weren’t the first to offer up mobile betting, they weren’t far behind jumping on the mobile bandwagon. Today they run one of the most successful TV and online marketing campaigns for their app including the much loved Chris Kamara. It’s almost undoubtedly that this is one of the reasons as to why they have continued to have success with their app. |
Like pretty much most of the UK based bookmakers, horse racing plays a massive part in Ladbrokes’ make-up. The sport is held second only to football, with revenue numbers from both their website and mobile site well into the millions of pounds. But even though they have such a successful marketing campaign for their mobile app, does the app live up to this hype? We won’t be looking at the whole app in this review, but instead be looking at how well the horse racing section performs in comparison to some of its competitors.
Features
Straight from the off in the app the homepage instantly offers you some horse racing specific bonuses. These are a more than welcomed addition for any bettor, so a good start to say the least. On top of this the home page will include a series of upcoming horse races from around the world. You may have to scroll down a bit to see which races are featured, but still, it shows that they are keen to promote the sport throughout the Ladbrokes betting app.
The horse racing section can be found by clicking the horses head at the top navigation section from the home page. Ladbrokes have opted for a very clean design that primarily uses black, white and grey. We like the sleek design although it may not be everyone taste. At this point you met with a long list of meetings and races that you can pick from. A little further down the page is a section on horse racing specials and different awards for jockeys and flat season specials. Obviously as it’s the flat season at the time of writing this will be on offer, but when the national hunt season starts it will flick across. Clicking on the "Futures & Specials" tab will offer you a look at some ante-post markets from the bigger meetings and festivals for up to twelve months in advance.
So once you have selected your meeting and then selected your race you are taken into the most important part of the horse racing section; the race card. At the top of each racecard you will find information on the going plus the distance of the race. Next comes the "Racing Post Verdict" where you can read an independent sypnosis of the race provided by the Racing Post. Next comes the actual racecard where you will find a form guide for each horse along with the latest betting plus the name of the jockey and trainer. The horses age, weight, RPR and a quick overview of their recent outing can be found by clicking on the "Show Runner Info" button. At the bottom of each racecard you'll find a list of betting tips provided by the various racing tipsters. The "Forecast" tab allows you to quickly and easily place a forecast bet on any race. The "Quick Bet" facility allows you to back a horse in just a couple of clicks. Text Betting is also now available that facilitates rapid wagering via SMS. The results section displays the race results and the forecast dividends for each of that days races.
Like most mobile bookmakers, Ladbrokes now stream live racing from every racecourse in the UK, Ireland, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) via their website and smartphone apps.

Verdict
You do get a really good range of races from around the world and the number of meetings is rivalled by few in the industry. Horse racing clearly plays a big part in what the company is all about betting wise, which makes our findings a little more frustrating. The design might be a little to clean for some but the app is responsive and it's easy to navigate between races and meeting. The racecard and form guide offer everything the average racing punter will need. Live racing and betting tips are also a welcome addition. Everything on their works really well; the betting slip is excellent and in terms of value for prices the odds are some of the most competitive in the industry.
